Ηuman Library at the Benaki Museum

On 22nd of September, another Human Library event will take place at the atrium of Benaki Museum, on Pireos Street.
In times when racism and stigmatization of being different seem to grow unexpectedly, understanding and acceptance of diversity may be the only response to the violence that is manifested, due to the fear against the unknown. Human Library suggests human contact as the best antidote for all kinds of discrimination. A friendly face to face chat with “human books”,  people who narrate how they have faced racism through their personal experience, is the simplest tool for understanding the “Other” and for confronting ignorance which leads to prejudice.
The space is accessible to disabled people and our catalogues listing the available books will also be in Braille and in extra large font. Plus, there will be the possibility of a ''human dictionary'' (for interpretation) both in English and in Greek Sign Language, in case one of the readers speaks a different language other than that of the book. Lastly, creative education will be provided for the readers’ children during their visit to Human Library.
Come over to read those stories that challenge you, trouble you or intrigue you. Come where the stories are brought to life...
